A call of the people of Canada in support of the UN Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons
"To sin by silence when they should protest makes cowards of men."
--Abraham Lincoln

'Ultimately, we all have an opportunity and role to play in bringing forth a future free of nuclear weapons. Where a town or city has called on the federal government "and the nation" to embrace the Treaty, we can go back to them and say "we are the nation – we can do something about this right here."'
'"Help! What on earth can I, just one person, do about this?" Take heart. That’s a sane response. It’s the basis for a whole new attitude to world problems, where change at the level of the individual is more and more recognized as essential to change in huge world systems.'
--Scilla Elworthy
"We will either come together, or we will disappear as a civilization."
"One of the most calming and powerful actions you can do to intervene in a stormy world is to stand up and show your soul. Soul on deck shines like gold in dark times."
--Clarissa Pinkola Estés
"When a great ship is in harbor and moored, it is safe, there can be no doubt. But … that is not what great ships are built for."
--Clarissa Pinkola Estés
"By raising my voice I can help the greatest of all causes - goodwill among men and peace on earth."
-- Albert Einstein
"What we think so intensely with passion becomes reality."
"A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality."
--John Lennon
"The world is more malleable than you think and it's waiting for you to hammer it into shape."
--Bono
"Fight for what you believe in. This is the time to do it. You're the ones to do it… Like no other generation, you actually get to create the world that you can imagine."

"I have cast my lot with those who, age after age, perversely, with no extraordinary power, reconstitute the world."
--Adrienne Rich

The mandate of a President of a local Chapter of the Nuclear Weapons Ban Association of Canada (NWBAC) is to lead their members in getting their communities to support and keep supporting a nuclear-weapons-free world.

A Chapter can be completely youth-run, adult-run, or it can be a combination of both. The minimum age to join a Chapter is determined by its members. Parental consent is required for membership applicants who are below the age of majority. Create your community Chapter now! Community Involvement Activities Community chapter invites its members to perform Community Involvement Activities required for high school graduations in Ontario, British Columbia, Yukon, Newfoundland and Labrador, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut.

The activities which do not require approval of a school principal are: • creating community awareness of the danger of nuclear weapons, • building and strengthening community support of nuclear weapons free world, • canvassing, and raising funds for NWBAC community programs.

Volunteering for community services develops students’ understanding of civic responsibility, creates awareness of the role they can play in their communities, and it strengthens their ties to their communities. As such, these are pre-approved activities which comply with graduation requirements, and which benefit both students and communities.

The Chapter President has the responsibility of verifying that members have efficiently completed their assigned tasks before signing their Community Involvement Activity records.
